The Danish Boating Industry Association was established in 1961 with the aim of representing the interests of companies active within the boating business in Denmark. The industry is small, so Danboat includes all kinds of commercial activities in the sector, e.g. ship designers, boatbuilders, accessory manufacturers, exporters, importers, wholesalers, retailers, brokers, charter companies, workshops, ship valuers and finance and insurance companies. During its existence the association has grown to represent most of the active companies within the marine industry in Denmark. The membership has now reached just under 200 members, some 40 of whom are manufacturers of boats or accessories. They are very active on the export market, with a good reputation for high standards and quality. In aiming to look after the interests of the boating industry, Danboat spreads its activities widely, from political lobbying of the Danish Government or the Danish authorities, to organising boat shows and mounting campaigns to persuade people to use their leisure time on the sea. Other activities include education of our members, developing standard contracts, informing the membership of subjects of interest to the industry, compiling price catalogues for used boats, and export activities such as advertising campaigns, export catalogues and Danish pavilions at foreign boat shows.
