Free New Technologies Workshop at METS

Monday, September 20, 2010

After last year’s huge success, the ICOMIA and European Boatbuilder magazine collaboration ‘Workshop on New Technologies’ will once again be held at METS in November.

“We have an outstanding line up of speakers this year, says ICOMIA Technical Manager Udo Kleinitz.

“The idea behind the workshop is to present accessible technology that is available today, as opposed to cutting edge solutions which might be around in 10 year’s time. In some cases, this technology has already been implemented by other industries, it is cost-efficient and we know that it actually works.”

Together with European Boatbuilder, ICOMIA has managed to get some of the leading industry experts to speak at this years’ ‘Workshop on New Technologies’. The topics will vary from the future of boat designs and adapted fuel systems to voluntary apprentice schemes and computer software preparing boat manufacturing. The common factor is improving productivity and lowering energy consumption.

“I am confident ‘Workshop on New Technologies’ could help boat builders and others to be even more efficient in their production. Our expert speakers have many interesting ideas and suggestions.”

One of the workshop highlights will be one of the founders of J&J Design from Slovenia, who will share his vision on the design and construction of sustainable boats. Another key speaker is New Zealander Chris van der Hor who will present the benefits of using apprentice schemes.

What is new for this year is a networking opportunity that allows attendees to meet the industry and make new business connections.

“I am very excited and confident about the 2010 ‘Workshop on New Technologies’, says Mr Kleinitz, who expects the limited number of seats to be snapped up fast.

“This is an excellent opportunity for all the people in the boating industry to get great new ideas, network with colleagues and improve their businesses. And it’s free of charge!”

To avoid disappointment, register to attend today.
